Meet Our Citizens: Shannon Eads, Stones Crossing Branch Manager

After managing the County Line branch for the past 3 years, Shannon Eads is continuing her role as Branch Manager at the new Stones Crossing branch in Center Grove. She won’t be found without her signature brand of customer service and stellar team building.

How long have you been in the banking field?

I've been in banking for nearly 18 years. My career began as a teller, where I fell in love with banking. Since then, I've worked in nearly every position before accepting my current role as Branch Manager.

What's one of your favorite aspects of your job?

Banking is simply where my heart is—money is important to people and touches every aspect of their lives. As any banker does, I treasure being a trusted resource and hearing customers, when they're faced with a financial challenge, say, "Hmm, I'm going run that by Shannon first."

How do you foster a sense of community?

As a manager, I love seeing people on my team achieve their goals. My motto is "we're all in this together." I believe in making every team member feel important, showing them they have an opportunity to be heard. At the end of the day, I make sure my team knows the appreciation I have for them. I truly rely on each member of my team for the overall success of our branch.

You're moving from managing the County Line branch to the new Stones Crossing branch. What are you looking forward to about the move?

Stones Crossing is in the heart of Center Grove where I have spent 15 of my 18 years in banking. I am excited for the opportunity to reconnect with a lot of my former customer base. This is a brand new location and I've been fortunate to be involved in the progress of the branch from the moment we broke ground to hand-selecting our team.

Stones Crossing is going to be a truly full-service branch with new technology opportunities such as ITMs, which are like futuristic ATMs. The user can do basic transactions or more complex transactions—anything you'd normally have a teller help you with—through a video interface with a staff member on location or call center employee.

What do you love to do when you're not working?

I truly enjoy spending time with my family; I have two teenagers and a 5-year-old. My husband and middle son love to golf, so the rest of us will go with them to spend time together. I don't know how to golf, but I do get a kick out of driving the cart.

Where's your happy place?

Our family travels each year to Carolina Beach in North Carolina. Because our home life is so chaotic, it's an incredible treat to go to the same place, stay in the same spot, and enjoy the same restaurants. This gives us a chance to truly relax.

What's something quirky about you that colleagues and clients might be surprised to know?

I love to hang out at Barnes and Noble reading the backs of books. I'd compare it to the joy of window shopping, just getting the highlights and dreaming about things. I keep lists of books I want to read and little things I think about.
