An Idea is Born
Let’s be honest—bankers have always dressed professionally, and Citizens Bank is no different. We believe in showing up for our customers with pride, but occasionally, even bankers have the desire to dress casually at work. For this very reason, the Employee Development Team at Citizens Bank came up with the initiative of Casual for a Cause.
Since 2015, this organized, employee driven fundraising program has given Citizens Bank employees the green light to be casual on Fridays for a small donation, a donation that is matched by the Bank itself, to charitable organizations in the community.
This donation not only allows the participating employee to wear jeans on Fridays, it also gives them a sticker to signify their participation in the program. The sticker serves as a badge of their generosity, and shows off the organization that is benefitting from the program. The sticker also serves as a way to share the initiative with customers, and let them know about Casual for a Cause and what the bank is doing in the community.
Each year, employees come together to vote on which organizations to support, which fosters a sense of community throughout the bank. Four organizations benefit each year from the Casual for a Cause program.
The team at Citizens Bank has made a difference in the community with this program, donating more than $60,000 to the community to date!
