Customer Privacy Policy


Purpose

All financial institutions should recognize and respect the privacy expectations of their customers and explain the principles of financial privacy to their customers in an appropriate fashion. This policy outlines the commitment of Citizens Bank to this issue and specifies certain principles and procedures to meet this goal.

Privacy Principles

  1. Customer Information Confidentiality
    We will maintain customer information according to the following security and confidentiality standards.
  2. Use, Collection and Retention of Customer Information
    We will collect, retain and use information about individual customers only where we reasonably believe it would be useful ( and allowed by law) to administer our business and to provide products, services and other opportunities to our customers.
  3. Maintenance of Accurate Information
    We will employ measures to maximize the accuracy, timeliness and completeness of customer information. We will provide procedures for our customers to report any inaccurate information to us so we can quickly remedy the error.   4. Limiting Employee Access to Information
    We will restrict access to customer information to those employees with a business need to know. We will educate employees about their responsibilities when handling confidential customer information, and we will discipline those employees who violate or fail to report a violation of our Privacy Policy.
  5. General Restrictions on the Disclosure of Account Information
    We will not reveal specific information about customer accounts, open or closed, or other personally identifiable data to unaffiliated third parties for their independent use, except for the exchange of information with reputable information reporting agencies to maximize the accuracy and security of such information or in the performance of bona fide corporate due diligence, unless 1) the information is provided to help complete a customer-initiated transaction; 2) the customer requests it; 3) the disclosure is required by/or allowed by law (e.g., subpoena, investigation of fraudulent activity, etc.); or 4) the customer has been informed about the possibility of disclosure for marketing or similar purposes through a prior communication.
  6. Restrictions on Telephone Requests for Information
    We will establish guidelines for dissemination of customer account information in response to telephone requests and train employees to ensure awareness of their responsibility to safeguard customer financial information.

    We will establish guidelines for dissemination of customer account information in response to mail requests or in person requests and train employees to ensure awareness of their responsibility to safeguard customer financial information.
  8. Protection of Information via Established Security Procedures
    We will maintain appropriate security standards and procedures regarding unauthorized access to customer information.
  9. Disclosure of Privacy Principles to Customers
    We will devise methods of providing a customer with an understanding of our privacy policies. Customers expressing a concern about financial privacy will be given a copy of this Customer Privacy Policy.
